does the funky bug sleep for 50 years because it's like getting born slowly or is it just its way? and will it be awake for 50 years before sleeping again another 50 years? and could it possibly be 51 years old as of now?

Slight correction: according to the great bug book of knowledge, the bug is not dormant--it can be a grub for 51 years! A grub! Imagine what a long childhood would mean for humans. In any case, I fear it dies rather quickly when it metamorphoses into its bug state.
